PREPARATORY D.E.L.E. EXAMINATIONS

Duration: 25 classes of 50 mins per week; 6 classes per day

Maximum number of students per group:  6 (maximum 7 students starting 2013)

Usual timetable:  8:35 to 13:35 or  9:30 to 14:30

GOALS

The main goal of this course is to prepare students so that they would be able to show their Spanish competence in the 6 DELE levels: A1 - A2 - B1 - B2 - C1 - C2.

The exam consists of five parts testing student's competence in:

Reading Comprehension,

Listening Comprehension,

Oral Expression,

Written Expression,

Grammar and Vocabulary

So there is another goal: to improve the four communication skills and knowledge/usage of grammar and vocabulary aimed to this objective.

 

METHODOLOGY

To achieve these goals, the course consists of general activities (4 lessons/day) as in the Intensive Language Courses, and one extra hour dedicated to working with real exam materials (from previous exams) or material elaborated in the same format as the exam, so that the students get familiar with test patterns as well as system of evaluation.

Even though many of the activities could coincide with the Intensive Language courses' program, all of them are aimed to special needs of every student with the attention to the main goal: to pass the exam.

The course makes up the theoretical information –elaborated from the most advanced perspective of linguistic studies– with practical exercises and the continual participation of the student.

Communicative activities in order to improve the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and  writing. 

Rotation of teachers: teachers change every class.

1. Practice and grammar exercises, vocabulary and written expression

1/2 classes per day

Explanation of an extract of grammar / vocabulary and immediate practising of exercises in real communicative situations. Correction of homework.

2. Practice of oral expression and interaction  from conversation and activities based on thematical units and communicative situations.

comprehension practice –audio-visual material and analysis of documents / magazines, books, television, radio–

and conversation related to the specific studied subjects.  

3. Specific activities of DELE in the exam format: As on the exam day we will make and correct exercises some taken from previous exams and other prepared in the exam's format.

A cultural immersion is necessary to achieve a good knowledge of a language. With this goal, Castila has developed 47 different social activities that help foreign students integrate in a spanish life. These activities are of very differents kinds: spanish movies, thematic evenings, musical evenings, trips, visits, parties, sports, 'tapas time', 'paellas'...

For students attending DELE preparation course, 

teachers will pay attention when programming extracurricular activities and inform students preparing for a DELE exam about its relation to the exam tests as well as its grade of utility, as another criterio upon which students decide whether participate.
