2. COURSES

2.1 LEVEL PLACEMENT

  • 2.1.1. The academic team is responsible for assigning courses and levels. They make the final decision regarding student placement, taking into account the initial placement test, interview, and the student's language needs. Levels and placement will be determined on the first Monday of the academic year, following the interview and placement test. This means the student will begin at their appropriate level at 11:50 that morning.
  • 2.1.2. The criteria justifying these decisions will be strictly academic. The maximum number of students is 6; exceptionally, at the request and with the unanimous consent of all participants, it could be increased.
  • 2.1.3. Given that the academic department's objective is to form learning groups with a similar level of Spanish, it may happen that after the placement test a student has a level for which there is no suitable group. In this case, the student with confirmed enrollment in a general Spanish course (code 100) will receive half of the classes reserved individually (Code 500) and the other half in the group of the nearest available level. In the case of students enrolled in Specific Purpose Courses (code 200) will receive 70% in private classes, and can attend the remaining 30% in a group with content of their interest. In both cases, at no additional cost.

2.2 GROUP CHANGE

  • 2.2.1. Students who wish to change groups should request this from a teacher. The teachers and the Head of Studies will then decide whether the change is appropriate and/or beneficial for the student.
  • 2.2.2. The student may also request a change of course that does not involve cancellations, although it must also be approved by the management of the center.

2.3 COURSE EXTENSION

  • 2.3.1. You may request an extension of your course, which must be approved by the administration. The decision will be communicated as soon as possible (within 24 hours). Please submit your request as soon as possible to help plan and improve the organization of your stay.
  • 2.3.2. If a course is extended, the price will be calculated based on the total number of weeks. Extending the course results in a price reduction.
  • 2.3.3. Attendance at a course runs from the first Monday to the last Friday of the last week of your stay. Make-up days for missed days will be considered by the management, and if approved, will be free of charge. This is usually possible when the group remains open.
  • 2.3.4. Start and/or end dates must be accepted by management, and if accepted, the following proportional prices will apply according to the total number of weeks.

2.4 SCHOOL SUPPLIES

  • 2.4.1. CastiLa provides all the necessary materials, including the weekly booklet with grammar, exercises, and activities appropriate for the student's week and level. All materials are included in the price.
  • 2.4.2. Enrolment also includes the use of all materials available at the center. These materials are the property of the school and must be returned at the end of the course.
  • 2.4.3. The use of other books and materials must be in accordance with the loan/use conditions: that is, they are expected to be returned in the condition in which they were loaned.
  • 2.4.4. The school will, as far as possible, facilitate the acquisition of most of the teaching materials and publications used or useful for the student.

2.5 DIPLOMAS AND CERTIFICATES (View all proprietary and official certificates)

  • 2.5.1. At the end of the course, students may request a certificate of attendance (Certificate of Attendance). To obtain this certificate, attendance at a minimum of 90% of classes is required. The certificate of attendance cannot be issued if unexcused absences exceed 10%.
  • 2.5.2. You can also obtain a level certificate. This will involve specific tests organized by the school's academic department (School-issued certificate).
  • 2.5.3. Likewise, CastiLa is an external official examination center (DELE, CCSE, SIELECommercial Spanish, Spanish for Tourism from the Madrid Chamber of Commerce).
  • 2.5.4. CastiLa also facilitates university credit recognition (ECTS). In addition, its certificates are recognised by institutions such as Bildungsurlaub (Germany), CSN (Sweden), Erasmus+ (European Commission), and for student visa applications in Spain.See all Certificates)

3. ACCOMMODATION

  • 3.1. The price of accommodation includes electricity, gas, water, heating, Wi-Fi, and community fees. Bed linen and blankets are also included, but towels are not. The apartments have a television and fiber optic internet connection.
  • 3.2. The school is responsible for student placement. To ensure the best placement, the school will consider criteria such as distance, number of people sharing an apartment, marital status, age, etc.
  • 3.3. Accommodation is from Sunday to Saturday of the last week of your stay. Arriving before or departing after these dates will need to be considered by Management. Please request this.
  • 3.4. For arrivals and departures on different days, the corresponding "Extra Day" prices will apply, which you can find in the prices for each type of accommodation.
  • 3.5. Double room and reservation: A double room is guaranteed for students who make a reservation in advance for two people. If a reservation is made for one person in a double room and there is no other person available to occupy the same room during the same period, the room will be changed to a single room, and the corresponding single room price will apply.
  • 3.6. The change of accommodation will be possible with the approval of the Center Management (Accommodation Manager).

4. FAMILIES
