Program

Description

A full immersion program that includes Spanish language and culture classes, sociocultural activities, and accommodation. Programs are adaptable to the levels and syllabi of the home university. The evaluation system includes the criteria required by the Studies Abroad department for credit transfer.

At Castila, students are part of an international group whose common language is Spanish. The practice of Spanish is the program's primary objective, and to this end, various opportunities are provided:

• With Spanish students, families and “local ambassadors”.

• In class, with experienced teachers

• Outside of class, in carefully planned activities according to the students' interests and the communicative objectives proposed by their teachers.

• Participation of Spanish teachers and “local ambassadors” in the activities.

Improve students' communication skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) by combining classes and homework with supplementary activities.

Program summary

Program Summary

20 classes per week: Spanish Language and Culture.
Small groups to ensure participation.
Activities each week:

2/3 cultural activities, carried out by teachers or a guest: themed evenings, films, concerts, exhibitions, theatre, visits to the market, the library, monuments…
2/3 Leisure activities: sports (football, volleyball, tennis…), city tours, workshops (ceramics, environment, cooking…), paella (in the countryside or at school), salsa classes, flamenco classes, water activities on a lake, flamenco party at school, bike ride,…
1 excursion (Saturday) to the beach, Sierra Nevada, Seville, Cordoba, Úbeda, Baeza, Ronda… organized by the school staff and collaborators.

Optional accommodation arranged by Castila in a family home, residence or shared apartments.
Access to swimming pool and sports facilities.
Access to study rooms and library.

The programs are tailored to the requirements proposed by the professors/Department of International Relations. The core program guarantees the following objectives and monitoring and evaluation procedures:

Practice and enhancement of students' communicative skills: speaking, listening, writing and reading.

Certificate of attendance upon completion of the course.

Students must attend at least 80% of classes. Students with more than 10% unexcused absences will not be evaluated.

Duration: 1 to 4 weeks
Intensive immersion program. The teacher at the sponsoring center decides the date and duration according to the interests and the school year calendar. Consult Custom duration.

Outside of class: 1 daily Immersion activity
Activities outside of class with CastiLa teachers and local ambassadors, other university students from Granada who participate in interactive activities in order to achieve a real immersion.
Culture, History and Society: visits and themed tours
Alhambra, Royal Chapel, Charterhouse, Royal Hospital, leisure, shopping, graffiti, urban services, sports…
Setting: A weekly excursion
Half a day or a full day to explore the natural, cultural and historical treasures of the surrounding area: Córdoba, Seville, Baeza and Úbeda, Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Huétor, Sierra de Cazorla, Costa Tropical…
Local Ambassadors
Young people and students from the University of Granada, with similar interests and concerns, motivated by intercultural experiences, collaborate with CastiLa and contribute to achieving a complete social and cultural immersion of the group.

Adaptable for processing credits specific to the university center of origin. Recognized by UCAM for the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
CastiLa Guarantee
Immersion programs have been offered in CastiLa since 1994. Some centers and teachers have been running them for 20 consecutive years. Ask for feedback from other teachers and check date availability. List of University Centers with collaboration agreements with Castilian.
