Total immersion in Hispanic language and culture

Program

A full immersion program that includes Spanish language and culture classes, sociocultural activities, and accommodation. Programs are adaptable to the levels and syllabi of the home university. The evaluation system includes the criteria required by the Studies Abroad department for credit transfer.

At Castila, students are part of an international group whose common language is Spanish. The practice of Spanish is the program's primary objective, and to this end, various opportunities are provided:

• With Spanish students, families and “local ambassadors”.

• In class, with experienced teachers

• Outside of class, in carefully planned activities according to the students' interests and the communicative objectives proposed by their teachers.

• Participation of Spanish teachers and “local ambassadors” in the activities.

Objectives

Improve students' communication skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) by combining classes and homework with supplementary activities.

Summary

  • Duration: 1 to 4 weeks

    Intensive immersion program. The teacher at the sponsoring center decides the date and duration according to the interests and the school year calendar.  Consult Custom duration.

  • Classes: 4 classes / day*

    *Recommended. Includes learning materials. Content and assessments as determined by the instructor. Assessment report, DELE and/or ECTS credits available. Consult other options.

  • Outside of class: 1 daily Immersion activity

    Activities outside of class with CastiLa teachers and local ambassadors, other university students from Granada who participate in interactive activities in order to achieve a real immersion.

  • Culture, History and Society: visits and themed tours

    Alhambra, Royal Chapel, Charterhouse, Royal Hospital, leisure, shopping, graffiti, urban services, sports…

  • Setting: A weekly excursion

    Half a day or a full day to explore the natural, cultural and historical treasures of the surrounding area: Córdoba, Seville, Baeza and Úbeda, Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Huétor, Sierra de Cazorla, Costa Tropical…

  • Local Ambassadors

    Young people and students from the University of Granada, with similar interests and concerns, motivated by intercultural experiences, collaborate with CastiLa and contribute to achieving a complete social and cultural immersion of the group.

  • Accommodations

    • Spanish families, the best collaborators for a complete immersion
    • In select centrally located hotels, with staff highly committed to the program's objectives
