Program
Training programme for groups of Spanish language teachers organised in their country of origin. The objective is to learn and acquire new didactic tools, in a context of cultural immersion organised/suggested by CastiLa. It includes classroom observation and practice. The programme is developed together with the teachers both in the academic aspects and in the selection of activities.
The courses for Spanish teachers meet the requirements to obtain the grants for teachers offered by the European Union through the Erasmus + programme.
This course meets the necessary requirements to obtain the scholarships and grants of the new Erasmus PLUS programme (2021-2027) offered by the European Union.
TARGETTED FOR
Spanish teachers, university students and graduates who want to focus their professional future on teaching Spanish as a second language. Two different itineraries are offered: for experienced teachers and trainee teachers.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES

- To acquire techniques and knowledge that facilitate the classroom activity of teachers of Spanish as a foreign language
- To provide knowledge of the different processes involved in the acquisition of skills in the four communicative skills.
- To learn the different processes involved in the acquisition of skills in the four communicative skills
- To analyse the grammatical contents of greatest interest in the learning of Spanish and to acquire techniques that facilitate their teaching.
- Analyse and develop classroom activities
- Evaluate and become familiar with different resources, teaching materials and documentary sources: materials, Internet, library, TV, video, music, etc.
- Contrast the knowledge acquired in the course and practise it under the coordination of the teaching team of the centre. Carry out actual practice in classes with students of different levels and profiles.

CURSE CONTENTS
- Methodological perspectives.
- Curricular issues.
- The four language skills: analysis and development of classroom activities and criteria for analysing teaching resources.
- Grammar in E/LE teaching.
- Documentary sources: language and resources for the E/LE classroom. Teaching materials.
- Evaluation: methods and techniques of evaluation, evaluation of the curriculum and evaluation of the teaching process.
- Cultural aspects in the teaching of Spanish.
PRACTICES
Those attending this course have the option of witnessing real didactic applications in classes of different levels and of giving practical classes coordinated by a tutor in these groups.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (Important for immersion, but optional)
GENERAL PROGRAMME (2 weeks)
In order to combine didactic and linguistic issues, it is advisable to have a cultural immersion. With this objective in mind, Castila has designed 54 different activities that facilitate integration into a real Spanish way of life. These are activities with a variety of formats: from thematic afternoons (with different contents: wine, politics, economy, culture, current affairs) to cinema cycles, conferences and pop or flamenco concerts; other more recreational activities, from parties and meals (paella in the school garden, formal dinners, barbecues) to visits (Alhambra, museums, exhibitions), excursions or sports (football, volleyball), etc., which alternate in two-week programmes.
SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES E/LE TRAINING
Those attending this course will be able to participate in the in-service training activities that Castila organises annually for its teachers who coincide during their stay.
ACCREDITATION AND CERTIFICATES:
Students receive a Certificate of Attendance.
10 hours of face-to-face classes per week + 10 hours of optional internships for every two weeks of course taken are certified.
European Commission – Erasmus +. The programme of this course is eligible for the Erasmus + grants and scholarships offered by the European Union through the current Lifelong Learning Programme.
General information
Length: 1 or 2 weeks
The group can choose between two immersion programmes according to their interests and time available.
Lessons: 2+2 lessons per day
The basic course consists of 2 thematic sessions + 2 observation/practical classes. Didactic material included. Contents and evaluation system agreed with the group organisers.
Outside the classroom: 1 Immersion activity each day
Afternoon (or evening) activities with CastiLa teachers in an environment that encourages interaction: talks, exhibitions, events, bars…
Active culture: Guided and thematic visits
Alhambra, Generalife, Royal Chapel, Cartuja, graffiti, events, gastronomy, wines, oils, leisure, shopping, urban services…
Surrounding: one weekly excursion
Half day or full day of your choice to discover the natural, cultural and historical values of the surrounding area: Cordoba, Seville, Baeza and Ubeda, Sierra Nevada, Alpujarras, Costa Tropical…

Fifteen Spanish universities trust CastiLa for their master students’ internships. List of Universities with an agreement with CastiLa to coordinate and supervise the internships of their Master’s Degrees in Teacher Training in Spanish as a Foreign Language.
