An intensive language course designed for anyone interested in starting their studies or in improving their communicative skills in Spanish. Contents, goals and teaching methods are geared to the individual needs and the competence level of the student. The method is based on continuous practice.
This course is made up of theoretical information – elaborated from the most advanced perspective of linguistic studies– with practical exercises and the continual participation of the student. This allows a beginner to know a new language and put it to use. Starting from an intermediate level, the student will begin to speak with fluency and correctness due to the adaptability of our method. At an advanced level, the student’s language becomes more profound. All students, whatever level, use and enjoy the language from the day one.

We use communicative activities to improve the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Part of our method includes a rotation of teachers.
1. Practice based on grammar
2 classes per day
Explanation of grammar extracts and immediate exercise practice in real communicative situations. Correction of homework.
2. Practice and conversation based on thematical units
2 classes per day
Oral and written exercises, comprehension practice (audio-visual material and analysis of documents or magazines, books, television and radio) and conversation related to the specific topics studied.

With this in mind, Castila offers more than 40 different social activities that help the foreign students’ integration into the Spanish life. These activities are of a wide variety, including: Spanish movies, thematic evenings, musical evenings, trips, visits, parties, sports, “tapas time”, “paellas”…

An integrated full immersion program that includes Spanish language and Culture cours, social activities and lodging.
In Castila, students become part of an international group whose common language will be Spanish. This is used and tested in different situations:
- With Spanish students, families and collaborators
- In class, with experienced teachers
- Outside the class, in carefully planned activities, organized according to the students interests and the communication goals stated and run by their teachers.

To improve students’ Spanish communication skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) by combining class and homework with extracurricular activities.

- 2 / 3 cultural activities, run by teachers or a guest : talks, films, concerts, exhibitions, theater, group conversations, visits to the market, the library, to monuments…
- 2 / 3 available leisure activities: sports (soccer, volleyball tennis…), walking tours of the city, workshops (ceramic, environment, cooking…), paella (in the countryside, at the school), salsa classes, flamenco classes, lake swimming, party at the school, bike tour,…
- 1 trip (Saturday) to the beach, to the Sierra Nevada, to Sevilla, Cordoba, Baeza, Ubeda, Ronda.. organized by school collaborators/staff.
- Optional housing organized by Castila in Spanish families, students residence or shared flats.

- In the classroom: with experienced teachers who specialize in teaching teenagers and studying material appropiate to their age and level.
- Outside the classroom: participation in carefully planned activities organized according to the students’ interest and their communication goals, well-supervised by their teachers, eg.:
- Sports and other leisure activities.
- Visits to must see sights (the Alhambra and other monuments and places of socio-cultural interest)
- Granada’s richly varied natural setting: mountains, beach, countryside.
- Group soccer games including boys, girls and teachers; salsa classes; the opportunity to meet young people their age; making paella in the school courtyard…
Program Summary
• Maximum of 9 participants per group.
• 1 daily extracurricular activity, supervised by our teachers:
Sports: soccer, volleyball, tennis… Visits: field trip to the Alhambra, walking tours of the city… Workshops: Ceramics, environment, cooking…, and much more: paella (in the countryside or at the school), salsa classes, flamenco classes, swimming, group conversations, parties at the school, bike tours, visits to the market, the library…

In recent years, the number of families who take one or more sabbatical years to learn Spanish and have an intercultural experience in Spain is increasing.. The Albaicin in Granada is a unique environment in which to live and learn Spanish and enhances the cultural experiences of each day. To help you settle into your new home, Castila add to Spanish Courses its expertise and knowledge of the environment.
We have developed a program that emphasizes the continued practice of Spanish through language immersion and cultural exchange, by integrating activities for both adults and children.
The program allows participants to move beyond “Breakthrough” and even “Waystage” as the foundation for a year in Granada: a rich experience that will not only facilitate the rest of the year but will increase the motivation, expectations and the desire to extend their stay.
Duration
For children: Primary or Secondary school preparation program: 2, 4 or 6 weeks prior to commencing school. Children have a class schedule also according to age.
Inmersion for parents: 2-52 weeks.
Levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. Spanish level is not required. Adult students are integrated into groups according to their level (Max. 6 per class).
Objectives
The overall objectives are:
To prepare students for their stay in Spain and in Granada in particular, taking into account their specific requirements.
To improve the communication skills of students by combining class activities with extracurricular activities appropriate to their age, to the educational level of the participants and the environmental conditions.
To familiarize students with the essential elements of their life in Granada: environment, daily routines, culture and language.

A comprehensive program that includes classroom work, activities (and accommodation if requested). The families are part of an international group with other local Spanish families who will work as cicerones, “local ambassadors”. The common language is Spanish, which is used in different situations:
-In the classroom: with experienced teachers and trainees in teaching children and developing appropriate material for their age and level.
-Outside of class: in carefully planned activities organized according to the students interests and their communication goals, previously supervised by their teachers and with their participation. For instance:
-Sports and other leisure activities.
-Highly recommended visits: The Alhambra Palace, The Royal Chapel, Monastery of la Cartuja and other cultural Sights.
-The varied cultural wealth of Andalusia: Cordoba, Seville, Baeza, Úbeda …
-The varied natural wealth of Granada (hiking and trekking): natural parks, mountains, beach, countryside : Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Huétor, Tropical Coast, Guadix …
-Creative workshops (pottery, cooking, painting and screen printing) with well known teachers from Granada;
-Football games for boys, girls and teachers; Beach volleyball,
-Salsa lessons; Flamenco; zumba
-Flamenco Party or a paella in the school garden.
A thousand and one opportunities to meet people with similar goals and interests, for age or situation.
Day to day in the neighborhood setting (Albaicín) and Granada with the Spanish “parents” and “siblings”.
In these activities, both teachers from Castila and “local ambassadors” participate.
